Who sang the song 'Rose Garden' and what year was it realeased?
ROSE GARDEN

(Lyrics %26amp; Music : Joe South)

Lynn Anderson - 1971

I beg your pardon

I never promised you a rose garden

Along with the sunshine

There's got to be a little rain some time

When you take you got to give so live and let live

Or let go oh-whoa-whoa-whoa

I beg your pardon

I never promised you a rose garden

I could promise you things like big diamond rings

But you don't find roses growing on stalks of clover

So you better think it over

Well if sweet-talking you could make it come true

I would give you the world right now on a silver platter

But what would it matter

So smile for a while and let's be jolly

Love shouldn't be so melancholy

Come along and share the good times while we can

I beg your pardon

I never promised you a rose garden

Along with the sunshine

There's got to be a little rain some time

I beg your pardon

I never promised you a rose garden

I could sing you a tune and promise you the moon

But if that's what it takes to hold you

I'd just as soon let you go

But there's one thing I want you to know

You better look before you leap, still waters run deep

And there won't always be someone there to pull you out

And you know what I'm talking about

So smile for a while and let's be jolly

Love shouldn't be so melancholy

Come along and share the good times while we can

I beg your pardon

I never promised you a rose garden

Along with the sunshine

There's got to be a little rain some time

Great song.
Reply:Lynn Anderson..not sure what year though.
Reply:I'd guess 1969 - it was the year my father left us and my mother would sit and play that stupid song, together with Dolly Parton's "Jolene" over and over again. I hate both songs.

Can the rose New Dawn be grown in Missouri? Does it require full sun?

I am interested in the history of this rose. I know it grows well in Tennessee and southwards, but I have not seen it in the Midwest. It should bloom all summer and has a wonderful fragrance. Is it featured in any rose gardens in the Missouri/Iowa/Wisconsin areas? Does anyone have experience growing it there? Photographs? Places where it can be purchased?

Can the rose New Dawn be grown in Missouri? Does it require full sun?
I live in Northern Mo zone 5a and I have had this rose 3 years. It is up by my garage and it grows so good I have to prune it back to keep it looking to wild. This rose has no die back in winter and it is the easiest rose to grow. It needs full sun. Where ever you put it make sure you have lots of room for it . It will really get big and tall. You will love this rose for it blooms all summer. The first bloom is the best in the spring. My rose is an own root rose that I bought over the internet. I would only suggest own root roses in Mo. Try ebay I have bought lots of nice roses there or try this link.

Reply:the rose new dawn could surely be grown in Missouri and probably do OK ...you see roses for the most part will grow in hardiness zone 6 and some even in zone 4 or 5 and still overwinter all right, however anytime you have winter cold reach levels below zero there are chances that the root stock could survive but the grafted variety you chose may be killed by the weather--in other words most roses today are grafted onto old reliable roses root stock so if say you bought a hybrid rose that was supposed to be a bright pink rose with a name and it did die off during the winter, you could conceivably have the root stock rose still come out the next year but it could be a simple multi flora rose in white or who knows what rootstock they chose to graft it on---roses are a very serious thing to grow if your really into them--but if your not into maintenance and care i would suggest just picking out one of the many landscape roses which need little attention and are easy to grow, examples are meidiland roses or knock out roses which are quite easily found in most garden centers, -----------blanco

Rose pink and teal? Are these ok for my garden wedding?

I'm planning a picnic wedding. I'm going to make pillows to the wedding colours. Is rose pink and teal ok together, and will it suit the garden wedding?

Rose pink and teal? Are these ok for my garden wedding?
Beautiful - the colours I wanted! We had a teal - but it looked more green. We had the pink in the flowers. Here are my photos if you want to see the colours together... I know it the girls dresses look green but put against an actual green they had a surprising amount of blue!!! Anyway...

Reply:For a garden wedding, I would go with a pink, but not with the teal. I would go with a much lighter green (mint green?) and pink. I think that goes better than pink and teal.

Just my opinion......
Reply:I think it nice! Especially if its like a pearly tone to it (know what mean) You kno for afternoon it will be shiny from the sunlight and at night kinda shimmer from lights or candle lights =) Hope you know what I mean! Goodluck!
Reply:For an outdoor wedding I'd go a little lighter than the teal - more turquoise.
Reply:no u should stay in one color family
Reply:Sounds beautiful to me.

How do I take a cutting from a rose bush in order to root it for my own garden?

I successfully took a cutting from my Pauls Scarlet climber using the information I found on the website listed below. I took 3 and 2 took so i was quite happy with it.

http://www.rooting-hormones.com/rose.htm

How do I take a cutting from a rose bush in order to root it for my own garden?
You need another rose bush. Take a sharp sterile knife and remove a bud or two, place these in a sealed bag. Remove the same area by cutting through the skin surrounding you new bud, into the skin of your own rose bush, this means that you will be removing the exact area that you replace. Secure the bud by tying it and stopping any air or sunlight reaching the cut through area, you should see just the new bud. That's it. Try to do three or four to allow for failures. Good luck.
Reply:There are two ways you can do it. First, you can cut a stem at an angle, coat it with rooting hormone and put it in a pot till it starts to root. That will work, but i like the second method better.

Cut a stem at about a 30 degree angle, but dont cut it all the way off (only about 1/2 the way through). Coat the inside of the cut with rooting hormone then tuck some pete moss up into the cut. Next take a black plastic trash bag and wrap it loosely around the part of the stem and tie it tight below the cut so it forms a pocket and fill the pocket full of potting soil and pete moss. Then add water and tie the top tight above the cut. This allows the rose plant to still provide the stem with nourishment, while at the same time allowing the roots to grow. After the roots have grown well, then cut the top part off and plant it.
Reply:take a 18in cutting off your bush the top just above a leaf joint the bottom just below make a slit in the ground with your spade put in some grit put the cutting in do more than one you should get 50% success

If you wear rose colored glasses is it still necessary to weed the garden?

Yes, in order to pick the camouflage .

If you wear rose colored glasses is it still necessary to weed the garden?
Hey! I know you're not asking a question but your pun is great! And I get your point: It's still necessary to weed the garden so why care wearing rose colored glasses deceiving yourself?
Reply:Yes because rose colored glasses and greenish colored weeds = brown colored garden...Ewwww...
Reply:This is good! I love it!

The weeds exist with and without the glasses, so yes, you weed!
Reply:yes because at the end of the day, the weeds kill the pretty flowers. weeds cause death, so DEATH TO THE WEEDS!
Reply:Yes, it is still necessary, even rose-colored glasses can become smudged and dirty.
Reply:yes...because if you stay ahead of the weeds

they propagate less...less work...

believe me I've tried
Reply:did you try that already? if u did.. what's the result? that would be the answer....
Reply:Well, no. All of the answers so far have been yes, but if you are wearing rose-coloured glasses it means that everything you see is tinted rose, it does not matter what colour the object is prior to tinting, it's still tinted rose if you are looking through the glasses. In other words, someone who looks through rose-coloured glasses only sees the good in life and is oblivious to or ignoors the bad. If they are ignooring the bad and only seeing the roses, then the bad could be interpretted as the weeds, and the whole point of the expression "Rose-coloured glasses" is that the people wearing them don't see the weeds because everything looks rose, so why would need to weed you garden? You're already deceiving yourself into believing that the weeds are roses.

Really great question by the way. wonderful pun, and it could be interpretted so many ways.

Can I give roses from my garden to anyone?

I have a fairly large rose garden and have to cut flowers before they make seeds so that they keep blooming. They are dozens of beautiful pink and red fragrant rose stems in full bloom, and I hate to throw them away. Can I just give to just friends or co-workers for no reason? Do you think they make some second guess? Or will they be annoyed?

Can I give roses from my garden to anyone?
put a sign in your yard saying roses12.99 a dozen, and sell them
Reply:red roses are for love

yellow roses are for friends

white roses are for weddings %26amp; funerals

pink is common among weddings

and any other color is fine to give in any respect you wish.

Just proper color coded ettiquette
Reply:Stick to giving them to female relatives.
Reply:Just be sure to mention that it's a friendship thing and give them to EVERYONE so no one feels left out or offended.
Reply:I would say give them to someone that likes them. It would be kinda weird to just give one to someone if they don't care for flowers.
Reply:as long as u explain ur intentions it's ok
Reply:new root will grow can you without ensure make
Reply:No, you may not give them to just anyone...

You must give them to me!
Reply:hey, u got a perfectly good reason, and your going out of your way to be nice don't worry about what they think Not everything needs to be over analyzed..whatever happened to simple acts of kindness w/o motive or strings???
Reply:well personlly i thhink of it as a way to show happiness and love t oeveryone in the world so yes you can
Reply:I have an English garden. I have the most beautiful roses any where.I always give my roses on special occasion. I arrange them in a beautiful vase, and they are more special then any of those frozen ones you get at the florist.
Reply:By all means, take them to your co-workers! I don't know of ANYBODY who doesn't appreciate getting flowers!
Reply:If you are not giving them for sentimental reasons, you can just put them in a common area at your job with a little note telling everyone that they are free %26amp; you cut them from your very own garden. ~That is so nice of you.~
Reply:i think that is a nice gesture. i can't imagine anyone would be annoyed by this.

maybe put a nice vase full in your breakroom.

or take a vase full to your local retirement home they will love them.

call hospice and offer them to a family.

i think it is nice of you to share the beauty.
Reply:heck no!!

evry1 ♥s roses!!

lol
Reply:Are you kidding? Anyone (who likes flowers) would be thrilled to receive them. I don't have roses, but I have lilacs and peonies and I always take some to work and give them to my co-workers and they love them. I also give them to some of our senior customers and they really appreciate the thought. I work in a pharmacy so we have quite a few seniors and it just makes their day.

Give them to whomever you feel would enjoy them and enjoy making someone's day.
Reply:I think it's fine. I would say something to the effect that they came from my garden and I just wanted someone else to be able to enjoy them too.
Reply:Sure, I would love to get roses for no reason at all! That would be great.
Reply:You know what would be nice is making little arrangements and taking them to your local seniors home and hospital. You could really brighten someones day.
Reply:yea, give them away. just not to anyone you think might get the wrong impression.
Reply:I think it would be a nice gesture to hand out flowers, to everyone, don't single out one person, unless you want that person to have special attention from you... did that make sense? oh well.i think it would be nice to give away flowers though. i mean, they are your flowers, you can do with them as you wish.
Reply:You can pass along a bouquet with a smile and say, "I grew these, and I hope you and the other people who see and smell them like them as much as I do."

If you hand out several, so they spring up all over the office, everyone will praise your roses, and you won't be socially awkward.
Reply:i think u can give it. i wish i had friend that would have given me some flowers from time to time. i like it very much.
Reply:Just as long as they know its not in a romantic way, unless it is. You don't want to mislead them.
Reply:Not just anyone. Some people are allergic, others have phobias.
Reply:I would love your roses. Or you could try to sell them...make a little money :)
Reply:yeah just tell them why

if you say here is a rose, and not tell them why, that would be creepy
Reply:You should give them to kids at your local childrens hospital.
Reply:I'd do it -- but give them to friends. They'll appreciate the color and fragrance it brings into their homes. Maybe ask them if they'd like roses first, however.
Reply:I think that giving your beautiful roses to people is a wonderful idea. I don't that someone might think of something else, but you could ask if anyone would like some roses to decorate their house, or desk with to make sure that they are not allergic to the smell. You could also cut them and take them to your church to decorate the altar with. You could put some in the back of church for people to take home with them. It is a very lovely idea and I wish my roses were so plentiful, but they are only a few months old. Good luck.
Reply:sounds like a nice thing to do to me. Just tell them you had to many and didn't want to throw them away.

Why do muslims say that Islam is like a rose garden?

All roses have thorns and also weeds grow in the gaps between, so nothing is what they seem.

Why do muslims say that Islam is like a rose garden?
dear. rose is symbol of holley marya and its for cristians not muslims . but if u make it for islam thank u very much but islam is like a garden but not just for roses islam is a garden for all the good smell flowers and beautifull trees%26amp; .... its called paradise that u can find all the other sky religiones in it because we have no enother paradise and god and all of us are brothers and systers and must love each other if the dirty hands of politicans let us .but dear reall islam i just in the heart of few peoples that they think just to love and peace

in one milyon muslim maybe you find 10 real muslim and they will not tell u we are muslim islam now is in the hands of ivel some butchers that they didnt smeell the good test of real and clean love in their dirty life are called muslim leaders but be sure real muslim dont like killing one little insect !!! wish u sky love...

Me..give me the thorny rose.
Reply:Everything I ever hear these days about Islam is connected to terror and death,,wow!! that's some religeon
Reply:I have never actually heard a Muslim say that .. or seen one write it... and I know quite a few Muslims.
Reply:They don`t say its a rose, and thus thorns are out of question.

Perhaps islam makes sense to you, that is why even though they don`t say its a rose, it seems to yuo like a rose.

My religion makes alot of sense to me, and I think it can solve the problems of the present day.

But the best thing about it is that it helps me realise about my true Creator, it makes me know about God in the purest of ways possible.

It is so in-keeping with my human nature, and the nature of other humans around me.

If it seems like a rose for you, pls read more about it, there might be thorns, but as you grow and have more experiences of life, you will understand those thorns, they are either for the general good of humans at large or a wisdom that is so subtle.
Reply:Ive never heard muslims say that but it could be that muslims believe whatever they put forward in the present life in terms of good deeds and efforts to please and worship God, they will see the fruits of in the hereafter. So its like when you plant your garden and eventually you will see them grow into beautiful roses for all your efforts.
Reply:I've never heard of that one before...

Looking for the best RED Rose for my garden?

MASTER GARDENER TO THE RESCUE.

When it comes to red MR LINCOLN is the top of the list. Dark rich red and the smell is Rose Heaven. Has a great history of little or no problems. Last time I checked the AMERICAN ROSE SOCIETY had given it a 9.0 on a scale of 1 thru 10. I personally would never touch any Rose under an 8.0 rating. My Mr Lincoln is about 15 years old. It was out of some of the first on the market. By age 15 most Roses should have pooped out years ago, my mine is every bit as nice as year # one.

Mr Lincoln is # one when it comes to red Tea Roses.

Looking for the best RED Rose for my garden?
Lincoln is beautiful, it depends on if you want a strong rose smell or what shade of red you want. try Jackson and Perkins site or heirloom roses site both are helpful.
Reply:Hi. I only have two red roses in my garden, but one stands out as my favorite of all the different roses I have planted. It's a hybrid tea named Miranda. It has been very hard and bushy even when the rest of my roses have looked very spindley this year. It's best feature is the smell of it's roses. The wonderful aroma these roses produce and can be smelled from across the yard.

My other red rose is a climbing rose named 'Don Quan.' It produces a beautiful rose which is actually prettier than Miranda's and lasts longer, but no fragrance and the plant has been a little more tempermental than the 'Miranda.'
Reply:Abe Lincoln variety

I want a rambling rose to grow up a large standard tree in my garden, any hints please?

This is one of the loveliest ways of growing them, but you must choose one with really long shoots. Others have gone into names, but there are literally dozens and dozens of them, the choice is yours. I will advise you HOW to grow your rose.

Firstly plant the rose of your choice about 4' away from the trunk: the farther away the better, since there will be competition for food from the tree roots and the soil will be less dry. The sides or rear is preferable as it won't be in the way. train the rose canes towards the tree along poles or strong canes. Once it reaches the lower branches the rose will hook its thorns into and over them and ramble upwards with very little further help. that's it. All you have to do now is choose your rose. I said before there are dozens, thinking about it it there are probably hundreds. Good luck with your choice. personally I prefer 'Albertine' it'll never let you down.

I want a rambling rose to grow up a large standard tree in my garden, any hints please?
'Dorothy Perkins' rambling rose is nice--I have one.But remember any rose needs plentiful sun...will it get enough under the tree?

I like climbing roses too,for trellises--'Blaze' is an excellent climber.
Reply:The most vigorous of the climbers/ramblers is Kiftsgate which can grow to up to 50ft high. It has white scented flowers and can take over smaller gardens

Paul's Himalayan musk is a great one for training up trees.

Have a look at some of the websites for classic roses.
Reply:The average growth for the

Kiftsgate is 20 + feet and it does tolerate shade.

The one below was the exception rather than the rule.

The Kiftsgate Rose

http://www.kiftsgate.co.uk/kiftsgaterose...
Reply:Tell it to stop rambling, start growin'

You could create some kind of trellis/grid for it to latch onto and grow up. Or use some netting so the thorns get stuck and it continues growing up the tree. Or do circles of string around it and the tree up to about 1 ft?
Reply:Try the delightfully named 'Rambling Rector' it grows while you watch and has lovely small white flowers and dark foliage.
Reply:Albertine- large pink flowers, very thorny and will grow to about 15 feet.

Paul's Scarlet-lots of small red flowers will grow to about 18 feet but will need training and more attention than Albertine.
Reply:The previous suggestion of Rose Dorothy Perkins has a drawback, in that it is a martyr to powdery mildew. Other roses will also get blackspot so get one that is more disease resistant.

I have a rose Wedding Day that is similar, but more compact at 30 feet, to the Kiftsgate rose at 35feet. It has apricot buds that quickly turn white. Rambling Rector has semi-double, small, scented, white flowers-20 feet. You could also try Rosa banksiae-lutea, it has bunches of primrose yellow fully double small flowers in early May. Other varieties to consider- Alberic Barbier, Alexandre Girault,Albertine, Bobbie James, Francois Juranville,Paul's Himalayan Musk, Long John Silver, Felicite-Perpetue, and the very vigourous, Rosa Mulliganii,

Will having a climbing rose next to my vegetable garden hurt the food?

I think it would be a very good thing to do they add beuty anywhere you plant them i think.

And i read some where that thyey grow roses at the ends of grape arbors so they could tell if powdery mildew was around and they could stop it on the grapes hope this helps.

Will having a climbing rose next to my vegetable garden hurt the food?
No, they will be fine. Only concern is pesticide use....none on the roses or veggies, please.
Reply:arctosta......

You are right on it as well as looking good, attracting bees etc they are a great indicator plant to show start of pest infestation

The Vineyards here in NZ also use them for this purpose

The Rose is a pretty usefull plant
Reply:Check what you are growing with compatibility to roses. There are plants that will provide protection for the roses and be protected by the roses, but there are those that can be drained by the roses and be infected or infested by the problems roses attract.

Roses can tend to compete for nutrients, and win.

Blessed gardening!!
Reply:I have climbers all around my garden. They have been there for twenty years. It won't hurt a thing.Flowers also attract more bee's and that is a good thing for any garden.
Reply:Your rose could be a good identifier of pest insects and diseases that may attack your garden. Ever notice how vineyards have rose bushes at the end of rows? This isn't to look pretty but to ID pests or diseases before they decimate the grape vines. Roses are highly susceptible to some of the pests and diseases that attack other plants and can be an early warning indicator of problems in your garden. (And the bees love 'em too)
Reply:No. However, shading from the rose and/or competition for water may cut the yield of your garden somewhat. But the rose will not "poison" or "injure" your garden crops.

What is the AUS in rose names?

My friends and I recently visited the rose garden at Hampton Court Palace in England. Many, but not all, of the rose variety names began with "AUS." I think this must be an abbreviation, and I'm guessing that it stands for a society that registers names for plants...but I am just guessing. Can anyone please tell me more about "AUS"?

What is the AUS in rose names?
I think it may be an abbreviation for David AUSTIN roses? David Austins roses are world reknown and are the most beautiful and fragrant I have ever seen.
Reply:hmmm..never heard about that..sorry

It is certain that he was really upset about the revolt among some prominent Senate Republicans concerning his plans to interrogate prisoners in controvention to the rules of the Geneva Convention, regarding treatment of prisoners of war.

Did President Bush seem a little hysterical today during his press conference in the Rose Garden?
I see some of you little sheeple are in denial, how can you claim he didn't seem unglued to you?! He was about to pop a vein and he was practically yelling his answers to the reporters! His mouth was contorted the whole time cuz he was so pissed he didn't get his way with the torture issue! He's such an *** toward those poor nitwits in the press. He never answered the tough questions but instead repeated the same old tired rhetoric(double speak) just to kill time. Arrrrg, that villiage idiot is driving us loco, Help!!!!

Lord, when will this torture end for us liberal-minded people?!!!!
Reply:He is just anxious to start torturing people.
Reply:I am not hysterical is the word. Insane might be better. Clueless is another good one.

How can any sane person say something like "It's unacceptable to think that there's any kind of comparison between the behavior of the United States of America and the action of Islamic extremists who kill innocent women and children to achieve an objective." I mean, we've murdered thousands of inncent women and children to achieve some objective: better control in oil-producing countries...more american-business-friendly atmosphere (Central America), etc.

Sadly, most of the voting public chosses to either ignore this, or foolishly attempt to justify it.
Reply:NO!!!!!!!!
Reply:I missed it, but I'm sure I'll see sound bites later.

Did little flecks of spittle fly? Was he red-faced with veins a-popping? Was baby ubbadubbya all upset because someone told him "no"?

Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll stroke out. Of course, that leaves us with Cheney. Ouch.
Reply:No, not really.
Reply:He was passionate
Reply:When you become president let me know what the job stress level is. I will be waiting.
Reply:Did not see any change.
Reply:Yes he went hysterical cause he was losing all his political support. First time he was more hysterical than when he picked up that pretzel.
Reply:Yeah...he's definitely losing it.

Reply:No, its a song written by Joe South and Lynn Anderson had the hit recording of it. South was one of the most prolfic songwriters of the late 1960's....wrote songs such as "The Games People Play" "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" and many others. Like many others of that period, he was from the South - Atlanta area, if I recall correctly.

I need some horse & farmyard manure for my Garden. I live in Granite city Il where can I find it ?

I need the manure from horses for my rose garden and it needs to be well rotted, The farmyard manure is for my Vegatable garden and general usage.

I need some horse %26amp; farmyard manure for my Garden. I live in Granite city Il where can I find it ?
Horse manure does not have much value... cow manure does.. and you can get that by the bag at any Home Depot////LOWE's, True Value... Walmart's
Reply:I wish you were near Mn; we have lots of cow manure. Just take a drive and stop in to see a local farmer. He'll let you have what you want. Do you drive a pickup? Or else bring 5 gallon pails, or used salt bags (softener salt).

Rose's garden is in the shape of a trapezoid.?

If the height of the trapezoid is 16m, one base is 20m, and the are is 224msquared, find the length of the other base.

Rose's garden is in the shape of a trapezoid.?
Area of a Trapezoid:

A = [ h (b1 + b2) ] /2, where b1 and b2 are the two bases of the trapezoid.

Thus, you have:

224 = [ 16( 20 + x)) ] /2 = [ 320 + 16x] /2 = 160 + 8x. Subtract 160 from both sides of the equation.

84 = 8x, so x = 10.5 meters.

I have a rose that will only thrive on a north facing wall...however my garden is like a labyrinth?

with the grounds set on a funny angle so I do not know actual North so can I find North without the aid of compass? Yes I know about the rising and the setting of the sun East and West etc., Thank you for your help.

I have a rose that will only thrive on a north facing wall...however my garden is like a labyrinth?
If you live in a very cold climate they say this so you pick a warm sunny position. don't worry too much about direction.

The wall is to keep the heat and beat the frost.
Reply:Right, when the sun sets in the West (9 o'clock on an imagnery clock face), turn clockwise, '15 minutes'... you are now facing North.

Make a note of what you can see - particular roof-tops, chimneys or tall plants/trees, so that you can, more or less identify the North from anywhere in your Labyrinth. Pick out possible sites for your rose and check the direction to ensure that it will be facing North.

It should be fine, so long as it is protected from too much sun.
Reply:Roses need six hours of sun per day give or take an hour or so, and they need lots of water. Watch to see if you have an area with this much sun and then plant the rose in that spot.
Reply:Try buying a cheap compass. If all fails for me while in the woods the compass always pulls through. Great invention.

Book: "I never promised you a rose garden"?

What's the relationship between Jacob Blau and his daughter Deborah?

"Deborah pondered the almost-lust that was almost apparent so many times. It was full of guilt and love intermingled... In his fear he saw her as having the same hunger and guilt as they did -- as he did."

Is Deborah somehow suggesting that her father loved her, under the surface, in an inappropriate manner?

I've read the sparknotes, but I'm still confused.

Book: "I never promised you a rose garden"?
Jacob is Deborah's father. He is a Polish immigrant who works hard as an accountant to provide for his family. He has a hard time dealing with Deborah's illness because he thinks it means that he failed her somehow as a parent. Their relationship is one of surface images. As long as Deborah seems fine on the surface, Jacob is happy, but Deborah feels that he doesn't understand her at all. He is quick-tempered and often seems as if he would rather hide from the ugly truth and hope it goes away instead of dealing with it head on the way that his wife does.

I found black spot of the bottom leaves of a new David Austin rose I planted in the Spring. I need some advice

I hate to use chemicals on my lawn, I keep things very organic. I'll tell you what I've done so far and if you could please give me additional advice I would be most greatful!!! I trimmed off any spotted leaves from the stem of the plant. I've checked the stem for any sign of disease and there does not appear to be any. I've cleaned the soil of any fallen leaves. This plant is new, planted rootstock this Spring. The area I planted in had never had roses before. This was the first addition to a rose garden I was just beginning, starting with a rose named Mary Rose which happens to be my recently deceased mom so I really want to keep the plant. PLEASE give me your best advice.

I found black spot of the bottom leaves of a new David Austin rose I planted in the Spring. I need some advice
This is what I use on my roses when they get black spot. purchase 2 32oz spray bottles.

Bottle one:

1Tbs Apple Cider Vinegar

1/4 tsp dish soap

1/4 tsp lite cooking oil (canola)

Water

Bottle two:

1Tbs Baking Soda

1/4 dish soap

1/4 cooking oil

Water

Spray your plants once a week with these solutions but not on the same day. Put a few days in between each solution. For example: spray one on Sundays and the other on Wednesdays. Make sure you spray top and bottoms of leaves, canes, and trunk. Also, make sure you spray early in the morning because it will cause sun burn. Clean up any debris around the rose. Throw the debris away (do not compost) and remulch. I live in OK and we had a monsoon for spring and early summer. Quite a few of my roses developed black spot and I started using these solutions as soon as I could. It did not take long for me to notice a halt to the black spot and now my roses look perfect. It even worked for my Hybrid Tea and they are hard to treat for black spot. Given that it is a David Austin, you shouldn't have any problem curing it.

Good Luck
Reply:baking soda dissolved in water and sprayed on the leaves is supposed to help black spot. Keep all affected leaves pruned off (destroy them) and don't allow them to lay on the dirt to infest it with the disease.

Organic is nice, but not practical for black spot. I use 3-in-1 spray.

good luck
Reply:You are probably watering them too much.
Reply:Blackspot is a disease. Austins claim that their roses are resistant, so it is unusual for them to get it. A suphur spray should work. sulphur is as natural as anything else, although I am sure pure organic people would/may object. Growing garlic/other aliums beneath the roses my help. Reducing stress on the plant is important. correct watering and feeding will keep the plant in optimum health. Dig plenty of organic matter into the soil to help retain moisture. this will help reduce the risk of mildew aswell. Black spot tends to look bad, but except in unusual cases is not fatal. Hope this helps to reassure you. Mike

How can I find the manufacturer of a french country antique cabbage rose quilt?

I am looking for the manufacturer of a french chic antique cabbage rose or also known as english rose garden quilt. I have found this quilt on Ebay and Overstock .com. On Overstock .com catalog #10087542. I also have a model #GL-WB0726.

This is a beautiful quilt with an antique tea background. With a romantic French blend of colors including melon rose and pink roses, butter yellow, sage green, rose and a touch or French periwinkle blue. It has several prints consisting of roses, wildflowers, vintage roses, and cabbage roses along with a ticking stripe and garlands of flowers.

I want to find the manufacturer to inquire about purchasing fabric to make window treatments. According to the two vendors I have found to have this item there are none available.

Any help is appreciated,

Pat

How can I find the manufacturer of a french country antique cabbage rose quilt?
I'm sorry, I couldn't find the manufacturer for you. An alternative is to take samples of the fabric (say, the shams) with you to a quilt shop and try to find something similar, or at least complementary. That style is very similar to some popular fabrics currently available. Check out Hancocks of Paducah, an excellent online quilting and home decorating fabric store. Search or browse through the florals. One designer in particular to check out is Three Sisters by Moda fabrics. They have several lines that have a similar feel. Check out Faded Memories, the Three Sisters Favorite (especially Paris Flea Market), and Seaside Rose. These are just the ones available through Hancocks - also check out eBay for Moda Three Sisters, Gingham Rose, or ask your local quilt shop if they have any of these lines (or similar fabrics).

Good luck - it's a beautiful set.

Is there really a garden at Madisson Square Garden?

Is there really a garden at Madisson Square Garden? In Portland Oregon there's a real rose garden, but it's miles from the arena that they named The Rose Garden. Don't get me started about that one. Is there a real garden in or near Madisson Square?

Is there really a garden at Madisson Square Garden?
Madison Square Garden derives its name from the park where the first two gardens were located (Madison Square) on Madison Avenue at 26th Street. As the venue moved to new locations the name still stuck, although since 1925 Madison Square Garden has been neither a garden nor on Madison Square.
Reply:MSG is a huge complex in midtown, and it isn't even at the original Madison Square. Not a garden in sight, it's all concrete. There is more than just the large stadium--also a smaller venue and exhibition space. Part of it is built over Penn Station.
Reply:About 80 years ago, the original MSG was located on Madison Avenue close to 23rd Street. Afterward it moved to midtown near 50th Street, then to its prsent location on Seventh Avenue and 33rd Street. Today, Madison Square Park is still there starting on 23rd Street between Madison and Sixth Avenues. MSG 80 years ago was known for hosting the circuses.
Reply:There is a park in Madison Square, where Madison Square Garden was originally. A garden is also another name for an arena (ie. Boston Garden and Banknorth Garden)
Reply:No there is no garden in or around MSG..
Reply:yes and no
Reply:NO the old garden was at Madison Avenue then moved down to Penn Station area.

Just a name...... no flora.........

Godo place to watch a game, concert... Appreciated my times there.

Reply:i saw u2 there in 2005 and i can tell you that Madison square garden doesn't have a garden and it isn't square either! i think the place has been rebuilt 3 times so it may well have had a garden in the past but it hasnt now!
Reply:the garden refered to in the name was a roof top beer/wine garden on the first hall built. the present building does not have a roof top garden.
Reply:Its not a botanical garden per say, just an arena for Sports and Attractions

the closes bit of green would be up by the library a short walk from MSG

have a good time in our city, walk around lots to see. enjoy

Can Miracle-Gro Rose Feed be used for different plants as well?

I have a nice 40ft rose garden...but my soil is clay and we have large trees in our yard that are just sucking the nutrients from my flower beds and I was just wondering if I had to invest in different fertilizer or if I could just use what I have

Can Miracle-Gro Rose Feed be used for different plants as well?
Roses like at least 4 hours of sun and a good soil. There are plants that like the same nutrients as roses and I suspect that on the label that's on your fertilizer container will have a list of plants that you can use it on. You might need to remove your soil and replace it with soil that roses like or plant them in a raised bed.
Reply:Hi

there is no reason you can't use the rose feed for other plants as well, but it does depend on what sort of flowering plants you have - hydrangeas for instance need a different sort of mix.

Also, specific rose feed is more expensive than a general fertilizer, so you might actually be better off getting a more general fertilizer for the other flower beds anyway and keeping the rose one just for the roses.

Long term, it may be a good idea to generally improve the soil in the flower beds. Add compost to them spring and autumn and dig it in as best you can without disturbing the roots. You can also spread organic mulch around the plants in the flower beds - this will have a double benefit: as the mulch breaks down, it will add valuable nutrients to the soil, and it will prevent the ground from getting baked hard ... which reduces its capacitiy to hold water.

As an aside, rose fertilizer is really good for strawberries, as they belong to the same family!

Hope that helps and good luck!
Reply:Sure, but as others have pointed out the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium have to be correct for the type of plant you're fertilizing. I try to find a feed with a pretty even ratio (the label will say 10-10-10, 2-2-2 or similar), and I've had luck with tomato food. That way I can dilute it to about a quarter of the recommended strength and use it on just about everything.
Reply:Use it only for roses. They have different requirements than other types of plants. Miracle Gro for Roses is pretty cheap and not worth risking your beautiful garden to save a few bucks. You can get the WalMart generic for even less.
Reply:Roses like acid fertilizer. If your other plants like acid (azalea, camelia, gardenia...), fine, if not wouldn't use it on them.
Reply:It should be just fine for other flowering plants, too.

Do pine needles really work to kill weeds and grass in a flower garden and will it kill the flower in it?

I have a rose garden and I was told by a friend that if I put down pine needles instead of mulch it will kill the weeds and grass but not my rose bushes. I also have a few different types of bulbs, will they work with that as well?

Do pine needles really work to kill weeds and grass in a flower garden and will it kill the flower in it?
Pine needles are acidic so if you add them to your soil you will need to add more lime. Unless you are growing a plant that likes acid like an azalea.
Reply:Pine straw is an effective weed block but not an actual weed killer.
Reply:Exactly what pondlady said. My whole backyard is covered in pine needles (we call it pinestraw here) but I spend time dealing with weeds all season. I don't have to pull them though, I can use herbicides without the unsightly mess of dead weeds. I live in Birmingham, AL.
Reply:Pine needles will not kill weeds or grass, but they are a great mulch that helps keep the weeds down. I usually put down up to 4" of it so it does a great job. It decomposes and adds a bit of needed acid to your soil.

Does anyone know the type of rose grown around ocean homes, atleast in the northeast?

They have large rose hips and are very fragrant. Usually a deep pink but I've seen other shades as well. Also, why do I not see them away from the ocean? I'd love to add one our two to my rose garden if possible.

Does anyone know the type of rose grown around ocean homes, atleast in the northeast?
Rosa Rugosa: These hardy roses, also known as the Beach Rose, can be seen growing along roads and in sand dunes with high winds and salt spray. Introduced into the West from Japan and western Asia around 1796 and brought to America in the nineteeth centry. Rugosas are low maintenance, disease free and bear fragrant long lasting blooms. Their hips add a distinct beauty to the garden and are a good source of vitamin C. The foliage has a crinkled look that will show off colorful fall colors.

http://www.countrycareroses.com/page2.ht...

Take a look:

http://www.heirloomroses.com/cgi/browse....

Rugosa roses are very drought and salt tolerant because Rugosas evolved along ocean shorelines where they were exposed to sandy, dry soil and salt spray. This tolerance is great for those who want to place a hedge of roses next to a road that gets salted in the winter.

This site illustrates the many different types of Rugosas.

http://www.springvalleyroses.com/catalog...

I've grown several types of Rugosas %26amp; really like the double-flowered "Thérèse Bugnet" shown here :

http://www.springvalleyroses.com/catalog...

More people would grow Rugosas if they knew that deer stay away from them %26amp; the rose hips contain more vitamin C than oranges! :)

Reply:In the spring, I found the bare root "Thérèse Bugnet" at both WalMart %26amp; the Tractor Supply store for less than $5. Many Rugosas grow to 6 ft, but Theresa B. doesn't grow bigger than 5ft %26amp; blooms all summer. Thanks for letting me know this was helpful :) Report Abuse

Reply:Rosa Rugosa. Rugosa Rose. You may find a "wild rose" type that will grow in the DC area, not quite as prickly, but just as pink. "Nearly Wild" was a rugosa I planted in Maine this summer. They like dry, sandy soils and don't do well in the heat, and like sunny and windy places. I've seen some similar looking ones in highway borders around N.Va.
Reply:I believe these are wild roses and tolerate the winds, saltwater and hot sun. You would probably have to dig one up or get it's seed. I don't think this is something you can get at a nursery.

What low growing border plant would you recommend for a formal rose garden? Read the add. details first.?

Okay, horticulturists and master gardener extraordinaires, I oversee management of a (100 plant) rose garden that is in the shape of an octagon. The center of the octagon has a pool with a fountain, but this is irrelevant. The beds outline the octagon and measure approx. 4' wide by 20+ feet long as they bend themselves around the perimeter of the shape. The garden has a very formal feel to it and it showcases an analogous color scheme of purples, reds, (and gray) shrub, floribunda, grandiflora, and rugosa roses with a center bed (around the fountain) planted with Lavandin, Sedum spp., annuals, etc. to compliment the roses. Okay, so can you picture it yet? Anyway.. I'm looking for a plant that can tolerate zone 5-6, somewhat dry conditions, and makes a very neat and tidy border along the bed lines. So far I've thought the following may work: Teucreum spp., Thymus vulgaris 'Rose Scented' (how Disney World), and Santolina spp., etc.Any amazing ideas? Thanks for your help in advance

What low growing border plant would you recommend for a formal rose garden? Read the add. details first.?
If you are willing to keep pruning, I'd consider Inkberry. It is a small leaved holly, plays off the roses' leaf shape.

In perennials, Dianthus (perhaps alwoodii). Low growing, mat forming, does its scented blooming before any of the roses.

If you want unusual, how about Sagina subulata? It worked very well for me in between flagstones.
Reply:CATMINT ?
Reply:a low growing juniper may work well here. ( horzentalis ) I know I spelled this wrong but I can't find my notes.
Reply:well lets see, there's boxwood, rosemary,i have a border of berberis, all of which need pruning. or just go though your fav.garden mag. for ideas.
Reply:Hi:

It sounds like you have a beautiful rose garden and have put a lot of work into it. What about solid or variegated Liriope or Mondo grass. This would make an excellent formal border.

Here are some other suggestions:

1. Dwarf Hinoki Cypress maybe mixed in with dwarf Hemlock.

2. Blue Pacific Juniper

3. Blue Star Juniper

I like the idea of a small evergreen bordering a Rsoe Garden. It will give you greenery year around and cut out dead space. The evergreen will also accent your fountain.

I am a landscaper and designer and love the thought of evergreens mingled in with a formal Rose garden.

Good luck to you in finding your answer. I will link you to my site map as this is a page with everything on my website. I will also link you to my gallery of plants section so you can see some different varieties of plant specimens.

Hope this helps some and have a great day!

So would purple or white Alyssum, or Dusty Miller. These are low-growing for borders in front of larger plants:. The delicate foliage texture of 'Silver Dust' Dusty Miller, with its deep indentations along the edges, contrasts strikingly with adjacent plants whose leaves have smoother edges.

I think blue Forget-Me-Nots or Ageratum bordering your purple flowers %26amp; pink roses would be nice.

Ageratum:

Blue Scilla would be nice for spring blooms. They can be planted with another summer-flowering plant like Forget-me-Nots, so your border blooms longer.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/galfred/444...

I really love your idea of using the scented Thyme. That may be the best idea after all :)

The Thyme can also be planted with some spring-time bulbs like Muscari (Grape Hyacinths), or blue, pink or white Scilla in it too... for a longer blooming season.

P.S. the white Sweet Alyssum Lobularia maritima (Brassicaceae) is drought tolerant and heat resistant ...so this one shouldn't fissle out from the July-August heat:

http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/wilds...

But you're right about some types of Alyssum because those "with darker-colored flowers do better in cooler temperatures" %26amp; some (like pink Rosie O'Day)need to be reseeded (in the summer)for continuous (fall) bloom.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lobularia_m...

http://www.burpee.com/product/annual+flo...

A beautful low-maintenance combo would be Dusty Miller paired with blue Ageraturm.

Blue Ageratum blooms to the end of October %26amp; should be longer lasting than a darker-colored Alyssum.

Good Luck! Hope this is helpful.

I'd even help out the roses a bit and alternate the alyssum with Silver Mound artemesia for the silver and for the scent which is not liked by bugs..... but the scent of the alyssum on the breeze would draw admirers from all around the garden!....

congrats on some good lookin', healthy, happy roses!!!.. well done!!
Reply:As I read your question, Germander (Teucrium) and Lavender (Lavandula) came to mind, but you've already mentioned them. I still think either would be a great choice. Maybe candytuft (Iberis) might be another option.

If it doesn't have to be a rigid shape, Liriope might work nicely, or a coral bell (Heuchera, Heucherella). Meadowsage (Salvia) is also a possibility.

Have fun with your project and hopefully a plethora of answers.

The book I never promised you a rose garden?

I read the book I never promised you a rose garden but in the end I'm confused....did she ever get out of the hospital because it says she does but then she goes back.

Thanks :D

The book I never promised you a rose garden?
Throughout her story, D is living in a world of her own making. She escapes reality into her other place. When she's hospitalized, she's scared and trapped and feels terribly alone. How frightening that must have been. Then she begins to make some progress, but it's only the beginning. In the end of the book, she gets out of the hospital and realizes that life in it's reality is possible for her and it isn't really as frightening as she thought. She comes to understand that she really is ill and really does need help. She returns to the hospital knowing that eventually she will finally be free from her demons with the professional help from the doctors.

Okay all you rose gardeners, I need your advice. I want to plant a rose garden in front of my porch. The area?

ia 5 1/2 ' x 12'. My home is a white country house with black shutters, my front door is painted a merlot color. My questions? Should I keep all the roses the same color or mix it up? How many rose shrubs can I plant in an area this size without it becoming over-crowded. Should I keep them all shrubs or should I get a couple of climbers to travel along the porch rail. My fear there is that it will make painting difficult. One last question; I was planning to turn over the soil and mix in some composted manure, then I wanted to use one of those weed barriers over that, plant the roses and use a mulch to cover the barrier. Is that wise or will it cause problems. This is my first rose garden. My mom was an avid rose gardener and she passed away, I want to make it a memory garden. Thanks for any help you can give.

Okay all you rose gardeners, I need your advice. I want to plant a rose garden in front of my porch. The area?
First, what kind of rose bushes do you want to end up with? If you want large ones that sprawl all over and put out lots of relatively small blooms, you wouldn't prune them much in winter. But, if you want fairly small bushes that put out very few huge, perfect roses, you'll want to prune them back to 3 or 4 1-foot canes each winter.

This will also determine the placement density. An unattended rose bush can get several feet across. But, if you are growing them small to get the bigger blooms, you can plant them about 3 feet apart.

And, do get the climbing roses for the rail. It's really a very cool look. Even if you have to remove them for painting, you might be able to salvage the length of the trailing stems. If not, you can just cut it back and let it start trailing again.

Regarding the weed barrier, that is ideal. You can cover it with medium cedar bark chips, and it will be ideal for weed protection as well as moisture retention (and protection from cold winters in harsher areas).

Regarding colors ... that's pretty much a personal taste issue. Having the same color (even the bushes having the same color as the climbers) can be a stiking effect, especially if you got something like red roses the color of your door. I once had roses all around my yard and put in different colors. The house itself was bluish gray and the colors looked nice ringing the green lawn. Since this is a tribute garden, I guess I would ask, "What did your mother have?" and go with that.

One good idea is to have a soaker hose winding through the rose garden for watering. You want to avoid getting water on the leaves when watering. This reduces the risk of fungus or mildew problems. Feed with a systemic rose food (granules you sprinkle around the base of each plant). This provides the nutrients for spectacular colors and also makes the leaves toxic to pests, especially aphids.

One of the best resources for roses is the Sunset Western Garden Book. They have a great section on growing and pruning roses for the best blooms. It also contains great information about just about any house or garden plant that you can grow in the western US. And, this is appicable to many other parts of the country, because of the variety of climates in the west.

Reply:I have a rose garden a little bit larger than the one you have. I have one climber and one Queen Elizabeth. They were already here when we moved in but where not doing very well. We put some fresh Miracle Gro soil down, covered the ground with gardening cloth and put white river rocks on top of the cloth. Now my roses are shooting up and blooming like crazy! I counted the buds on my red climber and there were like 46! In conclusion, I would say 2 large rose bushes and then a couple that don't grow very big.

My mom is also an avid gardener and I know the pressure of trying to follow in her foot steps. I think what you are doing with the memory garden is a wonderful tribute.
Reply:Since this is your first rose garden, you might want to start with the Knock-out roses. They are pretty carefree and everblooming, which is nice for the front of a house. The range of colors increases every year. They have doubles now, and a better range of colors every year. My favorite is the light pink "Blush", but the new "Red Knockout" double sounds nice too.
Reply:Roses should be spaced according to the type and growth habit. You could plant a couple or three climbers towards the back and three or four in between and more towards the front.

See source for information on all types of roses you can grow
Reply:I have a path lined with roses as well as a pose bed next to the house. Being in zone 3/4 its hard to get tea roses to do well. What I have ended up with is Canadian shrub roses. If you select carefully you can get them with a nice sent and repeat bloomers and also some that dint get so tall and bushy.

go on line and look up HIGH COUNTRY ROSES they list a lot of different kinds and I'm sure you will find just what you are looking for.

A rose garden is an isosceles triangle with a perimeter of 125 yards. The shortest side is 35 yards long...?

How long are each of the other sides?

I can't figure it out because:

The sum of the two other angles should equal the hypoteneuse..and with an isosceles, two sides should be equal. Following these rules, the two other sides should equal 35 yds. and 55 yds. ...however 35+35+50 does not equal 125 yards. It would be impossible for the hypoteneuse and a side to be equal to one another because the sum of the two sides could not possibly equal the hypoteneuse.

I'm stuck! :\

A rose garden is an isosceles triangle with a perimeter of 125 yards. The shortest side is 35 yards long...?
An isoscelese triangle has two equal sides. The perimeter is 125 yards and the shortest side is 35 yards, so the other two sides are both 45 yards long.
Reply:This statement - "The sum of the two other angles should equal the hypoteneuse" - isn't accurate. The only given information you have is that two sides of this triangle are the same.

There are actually two solutions here:

35, 35, 55 = 125

35, 45, 45 = 125

I'd think the second is more likely to be the one you're looking for, because in the first case they probably would have said the "shortest sides are" instead of "shortest side is"...
Reply:35 , 55 yards =%26gt; 35 + 35 + 55 = 125 yards

45 , 45 yards =%26gt; 45 + 45 + 35 = 125 yards
Reply:Perimeter (of the isosceles triangle) = 125 yds

Perimeter (of the isosceles triangle) = 2x + y

y (the shortest side) = 35 yd

125 yds = 2x + 35 yd

125 yds - 35 yds = 2x

90 yds = 2x

x = 90 yds/2

x = 45 yds

Each equal side is 45 yds long

When you say:

"The sum of the two other angles should equal the hypoteneuse"

It's impossible because angles only can be add with angles son you can't obtain a lineal number (because angles are expressed in º)

Then you say

"..and with an isosceles (triangle of course), two sides should be equal"

You are right!

Then

"It would be impossible for the hypoteneuse and a side to be equal to one another because the sum of the two sides could not possibly equal the hypoteneuse"

You are right again!

¿Do you understand now the mistake?

Good luck!

I never promised you a rose garden?

What is the significance of the title of the novel?

I never promised you a rose garden?
The novel's title stemmed from the belief of the protagonist's psychiatrist that the journey from mental illness to health would not follow an easy path.

http://www.answers.com/topic/i-never-pro...

According to the author, Joanne Greenberg (aka Hanna Green), her 1964 book was written in response to the romantic notions circulating about the mentally ill at that time. There was a myth held by many young people that depression implied poetic potential. (Hence, anyone who wished to be thought of as poetic, had to delve into her/his depressed side. This frequently involved the use of harmful psychotropic drugs such as LSD.)

Greenberg attempted to negate the image of creativity in madness. She highlighted the starkness of mental illness in the 3 year battle of a perceptive mentally ill teenage girl against the irrational world that she had manufactured for herself.

BTW, the (unrelated) famous country song was not written or recorded until 1970.
Reply:I did not know it was a novel, but I know the country song by the same title. The next line is "along with the sunshine, there's got to be a little rain sometime". That pretty much sums it up -- nothing is perfect, good with the bad, etc. etc.

I know roses do not like windy conditions, unexpectedly, the wind in my area, HAS GONE BESERK, I live in the med,it has risen to almost gail force winds, and I have just gone into major expense with these roses....what do I do, is there any thing I can do to shield them...Please help....

I have just planted 54 rose bushes in my garden, and the wind has gone up to 10kph what must I do???
Buy a roll of 4' high chicken wire at a home improvement center. Cut the wire long enough to encircle each bush like a hoop and fill in with fallen leaves or shredded news papers.

There are also a manufactured product they call "rose cones" which basically is recycled paper compressed into a dome like looking thing that covers each plant. They would be available at nursery's.
Reply:Wrap them in burlap or any other material you can find to shield them from the wind.
Reply:Use your body as a shield woman, and hurry!
Reply:Are you serious? 10 Km per hour is a mild breeze!
Reply:stake a sheet around them
Reply:i dont think theres anything u can do now sorry, u got a large sheet or sumfin? like a car cover?
Reply:HI. FIRST YOU TIE THEM UP ALL TOGETHER. SECOND YOU COVER THEM WITH PLASTIC COVER.
Reply:unplANT THEM
Reply:cover them with a large tarp, and weigh it down with some heavy rocks or bricks to keep it from blowing away.

I have a few garden fans that traditionally have climbing plants growing up them. Can an ordinary rose bush..

Can an ordinary rose bush (shrub) be tied loosely to the fan and have it grow upwards? Or does it have to be climbing roses only? I'm not looking for anything hugely tall; just a little growth upwards would be nice.

I have a few garden fans that traditionally have climbing plants growing up them. Can an ordinary rose bush..
Yes, actually you can, but you have to be aware that some roses only grow to about 4ft so you will have to find a rose that grows to 8 to 10ft. If you go to http://www.davidaustinroses.com/ you will be able to get an idea of what you are looking for. They have a detailed description of each rose they sell including shrub roses that can be trained as climber.
Reply:Not too many regular hybrid tea roses get tall enough to climb or train on a fan. Try a climbing rose like Climbing Fairy (pink) or Red Cascade. Both are smaller climbing roses. The best everblooming climbing rose is New Dawn.
Reply:You need to buy a climbing rose. Joseph's Coat is a very beautiful one. One plant produces yellow and red roses.

Japan hotels?? Anyone know the Shinjuku Washington Hotel or the Rose Garden?

Are they good placed to stay? Are they in a safe area? Any info or suggestions will be appreciated. Need to stay in Shinjuku

Japan hotels?? Anyone know the Shinjuku Washington Hotel or the Rose Garden?
These hotels as mentioned above are on the west side of Shinjuku. What that means is that the area is full of business hotels and offices in the surrounding area. Access to the area is quite easy from Shinjuku station. One can walk to the station with ease every day. Access is also easy from the airport, as you can take either the Narita Express to Shinjuku station. For some, they prefer to deal with the bus and take an Airport Limousine bus directly to the hotel.

Other Shinjuku hotel suggestions for business travellers:

Hyatt Shinjuku

Hilton Tokyo (actually located in Shinjuku)

Keio Plaza Hotel
Reply:Rose Garden is better. Subway station is in the spitting distance. Limousine bus arrive at Hilton Tokyo hotel and this Rose Garden is 4-5 min walk from Hilton.

Shinjuku Washington Hotel is not that bad but little old. There are a few restaurants around this hotel. I do not recommend this for girls. Limousine bus arrives in front of the hotel though.
Reply:The Washington Hotel chain is always a safe bet. Not the cheapest nor especially luxurious, they provide solid value for the money. Washington Hotel restaurants always have nice steak at a good (for Japan) price.
Reply:Most places in Tokyo and Japan are safe.

The location of these hotels are on the west side of Shinjuku where there are many office and government buildings.

Choose whatever fits your budget, both appear to be business class style hotels.

Today is just another day, I ask those at YAHOO, If my Rose Garden needs fertilization<Where do I get the poo?

The petals are out in the cold right now,

But the color is still vibrant red...

I'd let it die and wait for more,

But I'm watering them instead...

Even as the snow falls down,

My roses are toughened by weather,

Kinda like noses that have been broken,

Still able to rub together...

As I ponder what I learn from the Bible,

And remember what I learned from my life....

I realize that I'm not liable,

For the actions of the one with the knife...

As it pierces my heart, and my rose garden wilts,

The snow drifts to cover the bush...

It seems that the Roses just needed a break...

And Old Man winter just gave a good push....

My first line may seem a bit childish..

As I ask another question, pertaining to gardening...

If your soil is barren, would you work it with faith,

Or just give up and watch as it was hardening?

I'm not a gardner, Just gifted with words...

Or so I've been told..

Looking for insight from others today..

As I am only 32 years old.

Today is just another day, I ask those at YAHOO, If my Rose Garden needs fertilization%26lt;Where do I get the poo?
I wouldn't give up yet, maybe the roots are just getting stronger,it's normal for some of the blooms to die,ya just bury them in the dirt near by and they become fertilizer the roots grow deeper and wider, before you know it your roses are happier than ever and your garden is the envy of your neighbors.fish poop is best for roses.
Reply:So isn't it another day of miracle?

If you need fertilizer,

hip and rot the negative thinking and emotion deep in your heart instead of express it out,

it's the best fertilizer you can get.
Reply:Zoo Do: Go to the Zoo nearest to you they will be very happy to give you as much as you wish. I am serious this is not a joke.
